Bucharest, Romania – The controversial online personalities Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan arrived at a Romanian court today, anxiously awaiting a decision on their appeal against their detention on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group.
The Tate brothers, who have amassed millions of followers on social media with their divisive views, were arrested in late 2022 as part of a high-profile investigation led by Romanian authorities. After several months in custody, they are now seeking to overturn the decision to extend their detention.
Tate remains under house arrest after the court rejected the appeal. And his brother, Tristan will be reporting to the police and is ordered to maintain restricted communication with certain parties.
Representing the brothers, Mateea Petrescu said: “They are free to meet and communicate with these alleged victims based on the close relationships they share and the children they have together” and that they, “vehemently deny all allegations” against them.
Tight security measures were in place as the Tate brothers entered the courtroom, shielded by a throng of media and onlookers. The brothers, known for their flamboyant lifestyles and vocal opposition to feminism, maintained a stoic demeanor as they faced the judge.
The case has drawn global attention, with supporters and critics of the Tates closely following the developments. Some view the brothers as victims of a witch hunt, while others believe the Romanian authorities are justified in their pursuit of the alleged criminal enterprise.
Appeal Is Rejected
Tate wasted no time after court to post on X, saying: “desperate attempt to put us in jail with no evidence.”
